Committee Reports

Trail Report

Doug Jeffrey reported trail work to clean up and widen the trail from Maggie Hall’s bridge to Church Road and from Hall’s Field to the Rte 5 intersection.

Terry Callum presented a summary of needed trail work this Fall.

 - Trail widening and clearing from Black North Rd to Perry Mountain, redeck bridge, gate for Ken Gagnon. This section is top priority.

- Section of Rte 5 from Cold Pond Rd up the hill to the stone wall needs several trees removed (already marked and approved by the Cold Pond Land Trust).

- Some excavation work needed to fix corner at Robin Daniels’ property and near Gilman Pond road crossing.

- Brushing in many areas

- The bridge at Don Mayberry’s is probably okay for one more year, but some of the hemlock decking needs to be replaced. Replacement of this bridge should be on the list of projects for next year. Don said that the new bridge will be named the Paul Clark Memorial Bridge when it is redone.

Also, groomer registrations have been sent in, RTP reports on grooming equipment are due, our Grant in Aid application for winter grooming is due, and some of the Skandics and drags need maintenance and repair.

Motion to spend up to $750 for repair and maintenance of Skandics and drags by Todd Callum, seconded by Alan Pulkkinen, motion carried.

Motion by Mike Foss, seconded by Mary Jeffrey, to authorize reimbursement of $48 each for ATV registration for vehicles used by Earl Shedlock and Doug Jeffrey for trail projects. Motion carried.

Discussion of how to organize work bees and encourage participation. We will try for two workbees per month. Eric and Todd will work the phones to try to get volunteers. Will meet at fire station and go to work site from there. This year we need a number of trails brushed, and anyone can participate in dragging cut brush into the woods.

Fundraising

Mike Foss reported on the Harpoon Summer BBQ. The event was successful for Harpoon and for the club. We didn’t have as many volunteers as last year and could have used about 4-6 more people each day, but everything went smoothly anyway. Eric Callum will organize the Harpoon Octoberfest fundraiser. Volunteers are needed to pour beer and park cars.

Old Business

Doug Jeffrey reported that we purchased the pole saw and chainsaw approved at the April meeting. They are both Echo products, heavy duty, from Rivard’s Equipment. Cost was under $1100 for the saws and accessories. The pole saw has a 17 foot reach, and the chainsaw will be carried in the Tucker. Doug also reported on repairs that he and Larry LeClerc made to the Tucker radiator and fan. It’s all ready for this season.

New Business

Terry Callum reported that it’s Sullivan County’s turn to sell NHSA Super Raffle Tickets at the Grass Drags on Columbus Day weekend. Each club gets half of the proceeds for tickets sold by club volunteers. Anyone interested should contact Jim Strickland to schedule a time to sell tickets at the booth.

Terry also indicated that volunteers are needed to work at the Grass Drags and also setup prior to the event. The club gets $10 per hour for each hour worked by members. Note that this is the same weekend as Harpoon Octoberfest, so we can’t do a full effort. But anyone interested in working at the Grass Drags can contact the organizing committee and indicate that their hours are for CLRSR. Mark Wilson has work forms (must be sent to NHSA by Sept 17).

Some discussion of a club picnic or pizza party in September or October to kick off the season. Mary Jeffrey indicated that she and Doug might host it.

Terry presented information on a new ASV groomer designed for smaller trails. It’s 6 feet wide, with twin tracks and a 50 HP engine. About $50,000 for a package with drag.

Meeting adjourned at 11:30 AM.
