A few notes from today's ride (my opinion only):

All trails are passable. There are many good sections with a few rough patches. Almost all the water and mud is frozen. Down to ice and rocks in a few spots, but not a problem if you're careful. Not enough snow to fill the waterbars, so there are some dips but nothing difficult.

Potato Hill Road has a few icy sections going from the top of the hill toward Goshen, but it has been groomed and a lot of it is okay. Going back up the hill toward Unity might be tough in two spots if you don't have studs. Goshen has been through with their Tucker but there's not enough snow and it's pretty rough in some spots. Rode as far as Unity Springs Rd and turned around. Didn't try riding toward the Claremont system/rail bed.

The Unity Store Trail is excellent.(!)

Center Trail has been groomed and is generally okay (last weekend's water is all frozen).

Primary 399 groomed several times. Okay from Potato Hill Rd to Gilman Pond Rd, and excellent from Gilman Pond Rd to 2nd NH Tpk. Some rough spots through the Gove Hill area but better than last weekend. Triangle is excellent (all 3 legs). Didn't try the Gove Hill hut.

Rte 5 -- Some sections have been groomed. Generally good riding with a few rough spots here and there. Watch the water bars on the long hill (Walker Rd). It was a bit thin from Rabtoy's bridge to the P390 intersection. Nice from Slack Road area over to the warming hut and okay to the salt shed. Tim reports that it's rough from the salt shed over to the Claremont trails.

Perry Mtn -- P399 has been groomed. From the Rte 5 intersection to Black North Road is mostly very nice. Gets thin from Black North Rd to Quaker City Rd. Watch the ice on the hill just before the bridge. Plenty of ice and rocks from the bridge to the base of Perry Mtn. If you get that far, try Charlestown's system (pretty nice). Didn't try going up Perry Mtn.

Primary 390/387 (Rte 5 to Bible Hill) is generally thin. Probably wouldn't ride that again without more snow.

Boat landing trail and Anderson Rd trail have both been groomed and are okay.

Didn't try Mitchell Pond loop.

Addendum from the Website editor!

Thanks to Mark for venturing out and really seeing how the trails are weathering the current snowless days!  It’s a pretty favorable report and let’s us know that there is riding to be had on the trail system!  Also, thanks to those who have been out on the Skandics to make the system as good as it can be at this time!  Glen, from the report, I don’t think the store trail has ever approached what it is right now!

On Tuesday night two of us road out to try the trails down through South Acworth and toward Gates Mountain and Marlow!  It was surprisingly good with a few pesky frozen water bars and some stutter on the trails!  The run from South Acworth to Gates Mountain turnoff was really good!  A couple of frozen water bars thrown in just to keep your mind sharp.  From Gates Mountain on it was bumpy. Don’t think Marlow had been out since Sunday.  May be done today or tomorrow but don’t know for sure. While in Marlow did slide down to Stone Pond where they have an oval track on the ice. That was fun!

So, get out and ride with the cautions in mind that you see above!
